Vanshavali Update

That's great news Anjali. We look forward to assist you in any which way. Ok! This Sunday 19th July, Hyderabad, i went along with my mother(Smt.Sheela) to a temple frequented by Daddy(Shri Chander Shekhar) and met the priest who is one Mr Sharma from U.P. After we gave our names and Gotra "Somastam" to him for Puja, he said Oh! you guys are direct descendent of SHIVA the creator of this world. Unlike other Gotras that originate from Rishis you are direct from the Vanshavali of Lord Shiva. Phew! that was some statement. He said Som-is another name of Lord Shiva and Stambh-pillar. How justifiable i dont know, but surely the evening was made for us. My query was sort of answered after ages since no one could give any reasonable explanation to our Gotra's origin or Rishis we descended from. Any comments? please do forward.

  1. Hi!
How wonderful to find the meaning and origin of the gotra of the Mohle/Mishr Vansh, the way you and Bhabhiji did at the temple. Also, so timely as you are working on the Vanshvali blog trying to get as much info as possible from all sources.
    Good luck or buena suerte.

  2. Dear Ajaya,

    Congratulations!

I can sense the thrill and excitement ( a Eureka! moment)that you and Bhabhiji must have felt on learning the meaning of our Gotra.

Now, we have to locate other sources to confirm our link to Lord Shiva. Start is beyond belief. Now we just have to trace Mohla parivar's origin to the ultimate source.

    Thanks

  3. Dear Ajaya:

I have to tell you a short story about Mohlian tha Mohalla in Lahore located behind our house in Sooter Mandi. When we came to Delhi in 1947 I rant into my class fellow from Sanatan Dharam School, Lahore, living close to our Railway apartment. His name was Amar Chand Talwar. I asked him about his residence location in Lahore, he told me he lived in Mohlian da Mohalla. I had originally thought that he lived in Talwaran thi Gali in Lahore. I came home and asked my Baoji about Mohlian tha Mohalla in Lahore and heard a very interesting story. It was named in honor our Bhayaji - Pt. Madho Ram Mohla because he established a very beautiful Shiv Ling in a small Tample in that area - named Mohlian tha Mohalla. This was my reason to tell you about Bhaya Ji's name as Mohla and not Mishra.

    With lots of love.

    Prem Mohlajee

  4. Dear Uncle,
I had no intentions to point out Mishra to Mohla. I wanted all of us to research as to how we became Mohla from Mishra. What could be the reason? Like i write Sharma instead of Mohla, it is different matter that i made my progeny write Mohlajee. Otherwise we could have been Sharma.
It is an interesting story of my writing Sharma. In my school-Delhi Public School in delhi, children started teasing me Mohlajee- with emphasis on JEE JEE- They sort of teased me into being a senior man-an old grown up person rather than of their age.
So i came home and asked my mother to go and change my name. She understood my concern and got my name as AJAY SHEKHAR(shekhar from CHANDER SHEKHAR Daddy's name. When I reached Jaipur and joined St Xavier's most of the children thought me to be a Muslim-sheikh. So teasers had a field day. To avoid that further when I joined Adarsh Vidya Mandir an RSS sponsored school from Shekhar I became SHARMA.
I think we have a story on Grand Uncle Shri Ram Narain Mohla calling himself MOHLAJEE from MOHLA. Do you remember the circumstance under which he changed the surname?
